3 July 2000
On 3 July 2000 Ipswich based Rob Soloman, aka LEXIS, is to release
his eagerly awaited debut album for Certificate 18 Records.
Titled ‘Branch of knowledge’, the 10 track album is a collection
of LEXIS’ work since ’96, which has previously only been available
on 12”, but never before on CD - with the exception of ‘Hypnotise’
and ‘Frantic’, which were both included on the acclaimed Certificate18
‘Hidden Rooms Vol.2’ compilation CD.
Having set up both Behind The Groove and Rude Boy Records, LEXIS
has also worked with Good Looking, Fabio’s Creative Source and Moving
Shadow Records, and all 10 of the album’s tracks ably demonstrate
both his versatility and creativity.
Featuring the forthcoming vinyl single of Photek’s remix of ‘Groove
Therapy’ (out the same day as the album, the single also includes
Second Skin’s Grand Unified’s remix of the same track), the original
of which was originally released on LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records
where, with hardly any promotion, it became one of the label’s biggest
sellers to date. The album also includes both ‘Mind Games’ and ‘Visions’,
as well as the night-time atmospherics of ‘Criminal Elements’ and
the abstract futurism of ‘Endurance’.
A hugely underrated talent, Rob has also contributed tracks
to the popular ‘Desert Strom’ compilations, and, having negotiated
uncharted territory in the Drum’n’bass scene.
‘Branch of Knowledge’ - which also features ‘Diva’, which comes
in with a gentle intro before crashing into a huge track that you
can only want to bug out to and the layered breaks and fat basselines
of ‘Illusion’, is an album of immense power and unique style that
will energize your body and play with your mind and soul.
