The sound of electronic Tijuana
Certificate 18 Records are very proud to showcase sounds from Brighton
to Bergen, Muswell Hill to Mexico. All the way from Tijuana, Mexico,
Roberto Mendoza aka PANOPTICA takes you on a truly global journey
of styles in his debut album for Certificate 18.
"One of
the advantages of living on the Mexico USA frontier is the access
to the different music of the rest of the world. When crossing the
dividing line one can meet with independent record stores that offer
the most interesting proposals in advanced music, among them electronic."
Taking on board
his country of origin, the musical styles of PANOPTICA wonder through
stripped down electronic versions of twisted house sounds on tracks
such as Kinki Bitsuri. While El Chivero de Tepatoche instantly changes
any preconceptions of it being another monotonic electronic album,
with freestyle breaks and rhythms, and instrumental virtuosity that
the likes of Photek to Kruder and Dorfmiester would be proud of.
Torolas, banda
snares and northern accordians have an underlying influence all
the way thorough the album. A quest into original rhythms and diversity,
purposely creating electronic music with a regional sound. Every
track triggering different emotions that can only be Tijuana. A
sound that throughout the duration of the CD cannot be explained,
but only heard.
In addition
to the 8 track CD, each track will form part of a series of 10"
releases available in the four weeks prior to the release of the
CD.
Limited to 1000 each with a print of the cover design inside, these
will be worth seeking out.
