Following One2One's use of 'Turtle' for their Talk 100 TV and Radio
advertising campaign, mainstream demand exceeded all expectation
and prompted Certificate 18 to release it as a single in February
to keep the baying public happy - and whistling. Now back with eight
new tracks, the Manana EPs are two four-track glimpses into the
weird and wonderful world of Mr Stuart Cullen, AKA Pilote.
The first EP,
out on 1st July, opens with 'Streams', an amalgam of undulating
piano chords and choppy electro breaks, sandwiched together by Pilote's
signature craftsmanship. The second track comes in the form of the
beautifully haunting 'Gypsies', which leads onto 'Way Far Out',
a slow mechanoise of interference and traces of human voices and
activity that slip into a sublime blend of blissful, subtle rhythms.
Closing up the rear is 'Duck Style'; an ode to those web-feet wanderers,
but more importantly another Pilote masterpiece which uses run-of-the-mill
and downright ridiculous sounds to create a serene concoction of
downtempo madness.
Meaning "indefinite
future", and Spanish slang for "tomorrow" or "later",
Pilote's second installment of Manana will follow on 22nd July,
completing his enlightening take on procrastination.
