Polar (aka K) began recording 3 years ago for the Hoppa
+ Bones Imprint A-Level Records and has gone on to record for Moving
Shadow, R&S and Rugged Vinyl.
Brought
up and residing in Bergen, West Norman alongside close friend and
now stablemate DJ TeeBee (aka Black Science Labs), he has managed
to equal the dexterity of a UK-based producer, while keeping a very
strong identity and coming up with a very individual sound, attracting
in the process woldwide respect.
Currently with DJ residencies in Bergen and Oslo was as trip to the
USA, big things look set for this man whose music does the talking…
‘Mind Of A Killer’, his track on the recent ‘Hidden Rooms 2’ compilation
was the most futuristic and adventurous of the album, and was heavily
aired by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Fabio and Amon Tobin to name
a few, seduced by the track’s intense atmospherics and dynamics, powerful
and haunting programming.
This album expends those intringuing sonic headscapes. 37 degrees
Celsius being average body temperature, it illustrates the irrevocable,
irreversible slide back from the thaw, into numbing yet taut K-hole
serenity. Polar does not forgo his dancefloor roots and sensibilities,
using drum patterns which floe from head to toe, melodies and B-lines
which grip like an ice cold vice.
